The Sangharaj Jyotipal Mahathero Foundation (SJMF) was established in 2008 as one of the components of the Kanakchetiya Vihara Complex at Baraigaon by the name of His Holiness Sangharaj Jyotipal Mahathero (The 10th Supreme Patriarch of Bangladesh). Baraigaon is located at 3 km. to the north of Police Station Laksam and 20 km. to the south of District Head Quarter, Comilla. The Foundation consisting of different welfare institutions like Bhikkhu/Samaner Training Centre, Buddhist Orphanage, Boys High School, Girls High School, Primary School, Charitable dispensary etc. The Foundation is a registered organisation by Bangladesh Government and also a Regional Centre of the World Fellowship of Buddhists in Bangladesh Chapter. There is one Managing Board to run the administration of the foundation. The Managing Board consists of 15 members who are elected for a term of 3 years. Besides there are teachers, office staff and others menial staff to work for the foundation. Though the foundation intends to run itself self sufficiently but having a very human resources it is not yet achieve self sufficiency. At initial stages local local donors helped the foundation to run in a simple manner within limited sphere, but now the complex has extended and so needs more local and foreign fund to meet its growing demand.
